I just inherited a SAVCE 10 implementation, but unfortunately, there was no documentation on what the admin password was set to. Is there a way to retrieve it, or change it, without having to re-install everything?

    TIA,
    Jon

    Hi:

On the SSC console search for a file called "IFORGOT.EXE" and execute it. This utility will let you change the admin password without knowing the previous one.

    Good luck.

to add to this, you must have have administrative rights to the primary server in order to run IFORGOT.EXE otherwise it won't be able to reset the password.

Don't forgot to try Symantec. That's the default for soooo many things from these guys. Or you can reset it with admin rights and a reg-key change...

This is a copy from another forum which I copied to notepad so I can't give thanks to it's original author but this helped me:
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wanted to uninstall it but the program popped up a window asking for a password. As always
    google had the answers.

    The default password is 'symantec'

Also should you ever 'forget' the console password for your virusserver:

Try to change this key in registry
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\INTEL\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\ConsolePassword
    to value 1084A085DC6BD2D755D4D6A7726
The new password is now symantec

that won't work with SAV10 as its a user name and password and they aren't the same on one server as another... you need to use IFORGOT.EXE, but yes.. if its an upgrade then there is a chance the user name will be admin (the default) and either symantec or Symantec (previous defaults)
