    Dear Team

We have 4 machine for which we require antivirus software. These machines are stand-alone. They cannot be put onto our LAN and also cannot use the internet for registration & updates. The OS used in these machine are XP and Windows 2003 server.

We are interested in basic antivirus

    Regards

    Hello,

You can run SEP 11 (AV feature) without an internet connection. You can download the .xdb files to another machine, copy them to a flash drive and install to these remote systems.

How to update virus definition files using the Intelligent Updater

Moving this thread to the Endpoint Protection forum for getter visibility.

One problem you will face is you will not get any incremental update files .you have to allows download the full update xdb file which is quite large in size.

Symantec should think to release incremental update files for users who don't have direct connectivity to internet.

Voted up for above suggestion by Bijayyes

Symantec has to think about the incremental updates which help many of us and reduce the bandwidth which highly in used at small organization.

you may use the internal LUA .

But LAU does not provide incremental updates to clients and we wont recommend anyone to use LUA If they have few number of clients because during every month LUA download above 1GB of definition updates and Symantec aware of this issue.

I would agree with thomas over here.

If your clients don't have internet it means its already in secure network,

Now since you have just 4 clients you can either put XDB on the clients manually or put it in shared location and write a script to copy it on all the machines.

I dont see a reason why symantec should be releasing delta definitions.
