  • 1.  Unmanaged > Managed SEP v12 SBE CLients?

Hi, Have several unmanaged SEP v12 clients on our network, which we would like to managed through Symantec Protection Center. However, I can't seem to get them to connect to the server! I know how to do this in SEP v11, and have doen it hundreds of times! However using the same method in SEP v12 doesn't seem to work! I have created a distribution install from the SPC console, then copied the Sylink.xml file to a network share, and used the Sylink Drop to replace the Sylink.xml file. The Sylink Drop tool says the Sylink.xml file has been replaced sucessfully, but the green dot doesn't appear on the client, and it doesn't show up in the SPC console! The old SEPM console used to be able to search for unmanaged clients, and install onto them! But the new PC console doesn't seem to have the search for unmanaged clients tool! Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks Ben

You referred to the 'old' and 'new' versions of the console.  I wanted to point out that SEP Small Business 12 is not an upgrade from SEP 11.   To compare and contrast features:

I second Aravind's suggestion regarding the firewall, particularly if your server is Windows 2008.
