    We're not really using XP, but the POSReady 2009.

     

    My question is, is this thread still accurate?

    the solution above says:

    The checkbox currently does nothing. While the functionality is there we have not yet implemented it on our side..

    and

    As of now Liveupdate provides definitions/signatures and engine updates only. No product updates.

     

    Is that still the case?

    Thanks Brian,

    Is there any plan in the future to allow unmanaged clients to get product updates from LU?  The impact of having to manually upgrade clients is huge.

    I've not heard of any but Symantec will need to confirm

    I would be glad to answer your query.

    Unfortunately it's not possible to receive product updates via liveupdate for both managed and unmanaged clients.

    My guess is being an enterprise product to stay on safer side always suggested to test the version prior to roll out on large scale. Every customer will have his own set of configuration so it's always suggested to test it prior to upgrade.
