Unscannable File Rule - Quarantining a .pptx document

Created: 21 Mar 2013 | 1 comment

Hi, First time poster here...

We recently installed "Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange" version 6.5.8.285, on a Windows SBS 2011 Standard server, and it is working great.

However, I have an internal user, sending a power point to another internal user, and the file is getting Quarantined.
I checked the Event Log for the Event ID 218 description, and see this:

The attachment "Report Writing (Cont’d).pptx" located in message with subject "FW: Power Point", located in SMTP has violated the following policy settings:

Scan: Auto-Protect

Rule: Unscannable File Rule

The following actions were taken on it:

The attachment "Report Writing (Cont’d).pptx" was Quarantined for the following reason(s):

Scan Engine Error. The maximum cumulative file size within a compressed file has been exceeded at location image3.emf within media

How do I fix this problem?  Do I somehow stop scanning from one internal user to another?
Can I stop the scanning of compressed files?
Or can I increase the "cumulative file size within a compressed file"?  If so, how do I?

Any help would be appreciated.  I am very new to the product.

Thank you!

Greetings dornmj,

The Windows Application Evnet that you are seeing indicates that the maximum total size of all extracted files has been exceeded.

To increase the maximum total size of all extracted files, please follow the steps listed in the document linked below.

Unscannable with Scan Engine Error: The maximum file size within a container was exceeded.
