Have a client who has 11.0.5 deployed and I want to upgrade them to the latest.  Does the new install (12.1) upgrade version 11 or will I need to uninstall 11 and deploy from scratch?

    Hi,

No need to do it from scratch, Upgrade from SEP 11 version is supported.

You can upgrade to SEP 12.1 RU2 version (12.1.2015.2015)

Upgrade process is easy however can refer this article:

SEP 11.x to SEP 12.1 Upgrade process graphical overview

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/sep-11x-sep-121-upgrade-process-graphical-overview

Note: The SEP 12.1 SEPM upgrade installer requires three times the current database size (sem5.db) if upgrading from pre-12.1 SEPM with the embedded database only.

You can upgrade the SEP clients using auto upgrade method.

Upgrade clients to SEP 12.1 by Auto upgrade feature

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/sepm-121-auto-upgrade

Note : You must test the AutoUpgrade process before you attempt to upgrade a large number of clients in your production network.

    Hello,

Have a client who has 11.0.5 deployed and I want to upgrade them to the latest.  Does the new install (12.1) upgrade version 11 or will I need to uninstall 11 and deploy from scratch?

Yes, you could migrate from SEP 11.0.5002 to SEP 12.1.2015 (SEP 12.1 RU2) directly.

    Check this Article:

Best practices for upgrading to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.2

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH163700

    Recently, a new patch has been released - 12.1.2100.2093 (SEP 12.1 RU2 MP1)

It is important to understand that SEP 12.1 RU2 MP1 is a maintainance patch and could be applied only over SEP 12.1 RU2.

    Check this Article:

Upgrading or migrating to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.2100 (RU2 MP1)

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH204449

    It states:

    "Migration paths

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.2100.2093 (RU2 MP1) can migrate seamlessly over the following:

    Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.2015.2015 (RU2)"

In other words, the Migration path would be:

    Older version than SEP 12.1 RU2 >> SEP 12.1 RU2 >> SEP 12.1 RU2 MP1

    Hope that helps!!
