  • 1.  Update Configuration / Power Management via right-click in 7.1

I've played around at (admittedly not to exhaustion) recreating the very handy "Power Management" right-click function available in NS 6.x on computers to force WOL, Update Configuration, or Send Basic Inventory.  So far, my efforts have been in vain.  I tried creating a task, but can't quite see how to attach it to show up in the right-click menu.  I saw Settings > Console > Right-click Actions, but this just seems to give me an option to create a URL link (maybe to do a warranty lookup or similar, by passing the machine serial number to a web service at Dell, HP, etc), but no way to link in a Task.

Has anyone solved this? Am I too much of an NS 7.1 neophyte to find the magic?  At least one other person in our recent User Group meeting asked the same, so at least I'm not alone in this...laugh

The right click functionality is controlled by registry entries under HKCR. The best way to figure it out is to find an existing right click option and search HKCR for the text string, but if you need specific guidance, give me some information on what you want to run.

Hi Ed, Long time no see! :-) I'm speaking specifically around right click options for computer objects in the Altiris console, not in the underlying os. Thank you for your input though!
