    Hello,

I did update SEPM 12.1 because Symantec send me an e-mail. I did backup the database and then installed. Now I get a wizard which tells me that it's not able to restore the port setting. Then the wizard asks if I want to use default settings. I click yes. But then the default setting are not ok.  I get: The server port you chose is not the port used by the database.

    I tried 8445, 2638 and 2639.

I know nothing about ports or technical stuff. Please help!

Clients communicate with the SEPM over port 8014

Hi James007. I am using SEPM Small Business. I had version 12.1 and upgraded now to another 12.1.

Hi _Brian. The port for the clients is on 8014. The problem is with the server port.

Is there something else on this server that is using that port?

If you run the management server config wizard and reconfigure the server, default setup is:

You can run a netstat -ab from the comman line if anythig is listening on that port.

Default port for embedded should be 2638, unless this was changed due to something else using 2638

    Navigate to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SQLANYs_sem5\Parameters

on the right, open the parameters key. you will see the port number used by your Embedded DB

What port number do you see,?

    it will be something like \db\sem5.db" -n sem5 -sb 0 -x tcpip(localonly=yes;port=2638

You need to use that port number during configuration..

Default server port would be 8443 and not 2639 as on you screenshot:

@SebastianZ: I changed the default port from 8443 to 2639 myself, but both don't work.

@Rafeeq: SQLANYs_sem5 is not in the list.

@ _Brain: How do I run a netstat -ab? And what is it?

Thanx for all the help! I really appreciate!!

I checked but none of the ports (2638, 2639, 9090, 8014, 8445, 8446) is listed when I do netstat -ab or netstat -ano
