    Hi All

     

    Today my symantec endpoint protection manager live update got failed and i am not able to download updates its giving error live update failed return code 4 plesae sujjest me what do its very urgent

    Have you tried updating with jdb file? What does log.live update file show?

    Check

    LiveUpdate fails on the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager with errors in Log.LiveUpdate similar to "LiveUpdate couldn't expand replacement path [spcIronWl-incr-InstallDir]."

    Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x

    1. Open a command window, then browse to:
      C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin
    2. Type lucatalog -update and press Enter.
    3. Run LiveUpdate to verify that there are no errors.

    Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1

    1. Open a command window, then browse to:
      C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin
    2. Type lucatalog -cleanup and press Enter.
    3. Type lucatalog -forcedupdate and press Enter.
    4. Run LiveUpdate to verify that there are no errors.

    Error: LiveUpdate encountered one or more errors. Return code = 4" in LiveUpdate status in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

    Hi James,

     

    I followed your instructions and then if i click download updates it will show you no updates found and with in sec it will show you live update sucess but definitions were there with 17th aug date

    You can clean the defintion and then check

    Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1 is not updating 32-bit or 64-bit virus definitions due to corrupt content

    In policy--live update setting policy--security definitions--virus definiitons-its shownig available version 8/26/2014 but if i give update content to client is not getting update

    its showing download protection failed in status of sep manager

    Did you try update manually ?

    i did that i copied jdb file to incoming folder after 2min it got disapperad but still no luck its not getting updated

    Have you check the diskspace is available in your Server.

    May be it can create the problem.

    The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager does not update virus definitions successfully through LiveUpdate

    Clear the old virus defination as per above articles,if that process does nt help you can reinstall live update as per below thread and Manipillai comments.

    have you check restart SEPM and database service ?

    It is recommended that LiveUpdate installer be run from the installation directory.
    The correct version of LiveUpdate for SEP:

    12.1.671.4971 (RTM) and SEP 12.1.1000.157 (RU1) should be 3.3.1.23.

    12.1.1101.401 (RU1 MP1) it should be 3.3.2.2.

    12.1.2015.2015 (RU2; RU3; RU4) it should be 3.3.100.15
