Can anyone help with this issue.  Company pushed thru an update for Endpoint protection.

A box comes up that says updated system settings. New software has been installed which has made changes to your settings.  You must restart your computer for new settings to take effect.

The problem is this reboot box keeps reappearing on a daily basis.  If you reboot the computer runs fine however a few hours later the box comes up again.  Any help?  Thanks

Hello, when I try to paste a copy of the box I get a message that comes up that says "because of your browser security settings the editor is not able to access your clipboard directly.  You are required to paste it again in this window".

When I try to paste it into that window nothing happens.

You have to upload the picture to Connect, and then select the picture to attach in your message.

In the top row of the box where you type a message you'll see a green and brown "picture frame".  Click that, upload your pic, and then select it to insert into your post.

After restarting everything runs fine for a few hours.  Then messages start coming up from the windows action center saying my symantec and spyware protection is turned off.  In the meantime the hard drive is churning away.  If I open task manager what is running says "Symantec Setup Stub".

After about 5 minutes of the hard drive doing its thing that box comes up again saying I have to reboot.  I reboot and all is fine again for X number of hours.  Then the process starts all over again and again.

How did you target your SEP installations?  Do you have a compliance rule created?  Are you evaulating compliance in your policy using that rule?

I bet that your policy is making the computer reboot after installation is complete.  However, the SEP installation is running (remediating) over and over but it's finishing without changing anything because the software is already installed.

Either you should target a shrinking filter that's based on inventory or you'll need to create a compliance rule and use that for detection.  Once the compliance rule is built and associated with your policy the remediation will not happen unless the targeted computer no longer is compliant.

EDIT:  I kept saying "compliance rule" but I meant "detection rule".  You would create this by opening the software release for your SEP deployment and building it there.  The best one to use (in most cases) is the MSI Product Code
