  • 1.  Updates, How to download / install

    Hi,

    We have had Altiris NS version 6.0 installed for quite some time but we have not been using it.

    I have been tasked with getting it up to scratch and working correctly. I'm using the 6.5 Console version but i figure that there must have been some updates by now.

    Could someone please point me in the direction of where i can download the appropriate updates so i can get up to the most current version?

    Hello Luca,
    The latest updates can be installed from the solution center, which is linked on the console as upgrade\install additional solutions. If you click on currently installed, you will see the upgrades available for your installed versions. The lastest NS upgrade is the R8 hotfix. It was pinned to the top of the forum, so I put it back up there.
    The next major version, NS 7 is slated for some time in the near future (no date announced yet). It is currently in the second beta cycle.

    Also make sure you are either logged onto the server directly, or are at least using a 'session 0' console connection, with the Altiris Application Identity account when performing upgrades.

    Thanks for the quick response, however i'm having trouble find this upgrade\install additional solution on the console. Is it under a menu somewhere?

    On the 6.5 console click on the configure link. It should be in the menu choices.

    erm, got some issues now!

    Started installing an update (can't remember which one now) It looked like it was working, i.e. the windows installer started, but then it came up Service Unavailable.

    Now whenever i try to get into the console i get this:

    Looks like i may have some permissions issues... I assume i would need to look in the IIS settings to see whats going on... any suggestions?

    Any further progress? Can you check the Altiris logs on the NS server?
