Hello:

I will be updating from BE v8.6 to BEWS v10d in the next few weeks. The v10 install/update processes seems straight forward, but I am wondering if there are some "watch out for ....." issues.

I have Dell servers with Win2000 server and Exchange 2000, and a Power Vault T120 robotic library tape drive system.

Any help or suggestions for this will be appreciated. Thank you.

Mark

Hello,

You might want to save the data folder to another location as a precaution.

The upgrade is a direct one from 8.6 to 10.1 it will maitain configuration information like job, catalogs etc..

Hello Renuka:

So if there is a problem and I have a copy of the data folder, do I simply copy the data folder back?

Hello Mark,

You cannot just copy the Data folder. But you can use it later to try and get some of the old information back in case the Upgrade goes with some problems. We would suggest in such a case to get in touch with us with a Voice or a DA support case. We cannot gurantee anything at the moment. But if something does go wrong we can try and get some of the config/catalog Information back for you.
