Updating of managed SEP12.1 Network-Based Protection (IPS) in Closed Network Deployments

Hi

I like to update my closed network of  20x PCs with the latest SEP12.1 IPS Definitions.

None of these PCs including the PC housing the SEPM is connected to the Internet.

How am i able to do so as the Definitions Release page (http://www.symantec.com/security_response/definiti...) do not provide any IPS definitions ?

Intelligent Updaters only updates AV defs. It is not possible to update IPS defs with this.

You should connect to internet to update all the defs. Manual update will only update AV / AS. I propsed an idea long before and its still under review

You can install liveupdate administrator on a machine which has internet ( found in CD2 of the medial you download from fileconnect) then point sepm to download from LUAdmin.

Offline manual definitions update is currently only possible for AV defs. For IPS defs and all others either:

- connect the client to internet

- allow the client to download the definitions fro GUP or SEPM

- use LUA:

Updating downloads in an internal LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x Server using the downloads from an external LiveUpdate Server

NOTE: These SONAR and IPS Intelligent updater are only for SEP 12.1 RU3.
