Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server)

Hi

I am working with Symantec management console 7.

I am in the situation where on our site we have an aging population of computers.

More and more of our machines have the NIC on the motherboard so that when the board is changed the Mac address changes.

It appears (to me) that when the machine next inventories this is not then updated. i.e that this is populated upon first discovery but then remains a static value.

When the inventory is run we have compared the onboard Mac with the result in the console and the new mac is not the one that is reported.

This then causes us problems when we then want to rebuild the computer as our imaging process needs the information from the console to apply the image.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and can they tell me how to force the console to update the serial number and mac address upon inventory where a change is detected.

Hi all

I have discovered that when we set our imports up we created a custom field for the mac address which is a static table.

Altiris itself is updating the required areas and we need to create a link between the 2.

Hope this helps other people
