Hie Team,

l am still running Brightmail Version 10.6.0-7 and need to upgrade to 10.6.1-2 ASAP but my problem is l am running Vmware 4.1 which is not compatible according to the release notes . l wanted to know the implications of trying to do this upgrade on my current Vmware environment ?  Also if l don't upgrade will l be still be able to get routine updates ?

Is there any way to migrate off VMWare 4.1? It is 6 years old now.

VMware 4.1 is not supported for version 10.6.0 either, so you are already unsupported. If it is working now, you should be safe to try upgrading. We just cannot guarantee that it will work. You will continue to get updates for the forseeable future.

l can see the SMG version is now on 10.6.2-3 and l am still stuck on 10.6.0-7 . Can l do an upgrade jump from my 10.6.0 to 10.6.2 ? Also l have 4 scanners and one controller. What is the recommendend uprade path l should follow. l had scheduled the updrage for this weekend .

Probably you have already read https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.DOC9408.html "Supported paths to version 10.6.2"?

I personaly took this update path: ... 10.6.0-7 -> 10.6.1-2 (-> only in test 10.6.1-3) -> 10.6.1-4 -> 10.6.2-3

But its quite easy, "update list" will show you the repository online available to upgrade. Only supported or nessesarry steps/versions in between will be shown.

To keep downtime to a minimum use "update download --verison ..." and, as you know always start with cc ;-)
