Does anyone know "best practice"..  we have a 5200...  do you upgrade your master server (ours is windows) to 7.5.0.5 first and THEN the appliance?  Or the other way around?

Just think of the appliance as a Media Server and follow the standard routine

Master first, then Media Server (and hence appliance), then clients

If you are already on 7.5.0.4 and this is just a patch to 7.5.0.5 then it doesn't matter which order as 4th dot releases are compatible both ways

Do bear in mind the issue found so far with 7.5.0.5 and be prepared to grab EEBs as you need them - keep an eye on the late breaking news and the forums

If you are on 7.1 and going to 7.5 then do the Master up to 7.5.0.5 immediately before upgrading anything else

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info..   I've had trouble using my master as vmware host (all we have is the master and the 5200) and then that made it the client, and the media server was behind the client and it got ugly, fast.

But that might have been 7.1 to 7.5

The 5200 at 2.5.1 or 2.5.2 will be fine as your VMWare backup host now, provided it has spare fibre ports available

And yes - 7.1 to 7.5 can get ugly if it is not done exactly right

Hope all goes well
