  • 1.  upgrade from console 8.0 to GSS 2.0

I need help! We are currently using Ghost Console 8.0. We need Vista compatibility and want to upgrade to GSS 2.0. However, can we keep our configuration/set up when we upgrade, or do we have to start from scratch? There is no mention of this in any of the technical docs and I've been on hold for over 30 min now with symantec.

Has anyone made the jump from an earlier version of ghost (8.x) to GSS 1.0 or 2.0? Were you able to retain your setup?

    Hi Charels,

GSS 2.0 can be upgraded from Ghost 8.0 or later (GSS 1.0 & 1.1). Ghost Console settings (include tasks, configuration settings, customized inventory filters etc) will be carried into GSS 2.0.

You may like to take a copy of the database yourself before upgrading just in case, which the upgrade process should do. You need to stop the DBservice before copy c:\program files\symantec\ghost\db

    Thanks,
    Jenny

One thing to be aware of though - you will lose any scheduled tasks. That is, the task definitions will be retained but the schedule will be gone.
All other settings, tasks, client computers, resources should be automatically migrated to the new version.
    Good luck

Thank you for the help! The upgrade went smooth. Now we are having a bit of problem trying to ghost Vista Home Premium.

Are there any known issues between GSS 2.0 and any of the Vista's??

    Hi Charels,

There are no known issues, what kind of problems do you experience?
