This issue has been solved. See solution.

I'm trying to upgrade endpoing 11.0.4000.2295 (11.0 MR4) client on a Windows 2003 server using a file i found on symantec called SEP32_2295To333_clientMSPMSI.exe, according tot he files description I should use thise file to update from 11.0.4000.2295 to 11.0.5002.333 for the client only installation of endpoing protection.

But it doesn't work for me.  When i goto help and about in endpoint protection it still shows as 11.0.4000.2295

thanks

Download CD1 for RU5

Download CD1 for RU5 (11.0.5002.333)
Then run the MSI or Setup.exe from CD1\SEP on the 2003 server.

hi

go to https://fileconnect.symantec.com
put in your serial number
download CD1
open SEP folder
run the setup.exe
thats how you run the install on unmanaged clients.

Thanks all for you replies

Thanks all for you replies and answers.  Question then.  What is the function of SEP32_2295To333_clientMSPMSI.exe?  Does it only function with the managed portion of Endpoint?

It should work. Try downloading it again and make sure it is 18.7 mb after it is downloaded and it has a Install Shield Icon.

go to properties of the files- Under General Tab on the bottom -next to security Click _unblock.

it didn't work.  i think it's

it didn't work.  i think it's because i tried to run the file sep32_2295To333_Clientmspmsi.exe.  Something is now weird.  I tried performing a manual uninstall of endpoint protection so it would be clean.  i then tried reinstalling 11.0.4 and during the install process it does a rollback.  so i'm not sure what's happening

Make sure you delete these

Make sure you delete these folders
C:\Program Files\Symantec
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec

Then reboot the 2003 server.
Then run the install.

If it still fails then
go to start - run -%temp%\SEP_INST.log

look for return value 3 and copy the 10 lines above return value 3 and post it over here
