So how would that work? Please forgive me, but I don't normally deal with the money or ordering...I am an engineer and I am just concerned that we were not selling the best product to our customers. So am trying to understand the process better. A little more detail: we are a small systems integrator and we are a Symantec Partner. We get our Symantec software from Ingram Micro and resell it to our clients. From what I gather from our sales staff, Ingram Micro is tell us that there is not an upgrade license from SAV CE 10 to SPSSBE v12...if a client wants SPS SBE, they have to buy the full (new) license. However, there is an upgrade license from SAV CE 10 to SEP 11 Multitier which costs less per desktop than a full license to SPS SBE (less than half, actually).
For example, let's say we have a client with one SBS server and 15 workstations currently running SAV CE 10 with the Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange on the server as well. An upgrade license to SEP 11 Multitier (http://www.symantec.com/business/multitier-protection) might cost them $25 per desktop. A full (not-an-upgrade) license to SPS SBE 12 might cost them $60 per desktop. Can you see why we are selling our customers the full enterprise SEP product?
How much would a crossgrade license cost in this scenario? Is this something Ingram Micro would know about to sell it to us in order for us to resell it to our clients? If we could get SPS SBE 12 for our clients for less than the full (not-an-upgrade) license cost, we would definitely be interested.
