Hello,

I would like to upgrade our SEP Management Console from 11.0.3001 MR3 to Ver. 11.0.4202 MR4 MP2.  So here is my question:

Does the new upgrade version require me to enter any serial number? if it does, will the serial number of  the old version 11.0.3001 MR3 work for the upgrade version 11.0.4202 MR4 MP2?

You don't need a serial number. When migrating from MR3, first go to MR4 and then to MR4 MP2.

you need to go to https://fileconnect.symantec.com  for downloading (MR4 First  and MR4 MP2 next)
select english it will ask for serial number

Yes

Your serial number would work for all your product catalog with Symantec, like mail security, backupexec.....etc

Hi, The upgrade process from MR3 to MR4 and then  MR4MP2 does not require you to enter any serial number. However, if you have not yet downloaded MR4 and MR4MP2 versions from Fileconnect website, you will need the Product serial number to download the Installation files i.e CD1.

Hi ..It is not recommned to upgrade directly from MR3 to MR4MP2

This migrtaion path is not supported.
Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.4202 (MR4 MP2) can migrate seamlessly over the following:

• Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.4000 (MR4), and 11.0.4014 (MR4 MP1a).

Possible effects after a direct upragde to MR4MP2  from a lower version [except MR4]:

Schema Corruption.

Possible dll corruption.

Policies Corruption.

Network breakdown.

Challenges with uninstalling SEP.

So what you need

Upgrade to MR4 from MR3
Then upgrade from MR4 to MR4MP2

I followed the two articles above to migrate from SEP 11.0 MR3 to 11.0 MR4 then to 11.0 MR4 MP2 successfully without any problems.
