    Posted Mar 06, 2014 12:24 PM

One of my customer has upgraded SEPM from 12.1 RU2 in english to 12.1 RU4a in italian.

Can this cause some problems? I've always upgraded SEPM in the same language of the original version...

    See that articles help you

Can Symantec Endpoint Protection Management servers that run in different languages connect to the same database?
No. All Symantec Endpoint Protection Management servers that connect to the same database must be in the same language

I've read that but it does not answer to my question... I mean, there is only one db and I think it has been updated during the upgrade of the SEPM itself

    Should be of same language..

As per this document it says "Please Note! You can only upgrade with a version in the same language as the version currently installed on your system.

Recommed to have the same language..

Oh oh... sad news (for them).

As a matter of fact, the new installation finished so that technote should be: "You SHOULD NOT upgrade etc etc..."

Interesting, everything is working fine? However you need to uninstall and reinstall the English version of SEPM 12.1 RU4a.

Uhm... that's true... but why I've logs in english (monitor section of SEPM) before that upgrade and in italian after it?

I've also new policies in italian but the existing ones are in english.

I confirm OS language is italian.

Uni-lingual support for Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager server supports a uni-lingual user interface. This means that a specific language operating system can only install and run that same language on the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console. You must configure the user locale to be the same as the operating system language to use the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console.

    • A specific language Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager only supports the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console that is in English language or in the same specific language as the server.

    • Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console must both be configured to use a user locale that is the same as the operating system language.

Better to Uninstall / reinstall to the OS language..
