  • 1.  Upgraded to RU7, cant export a package

    Posted Nov 07, 2011 01:36 PM

Again, Symantec has still not revised the "Error happened" syntax to be just a tad more descriptive. I recently upgraded to RU7 <11.0.7101.109> and am unable to export a package from the SEPM:

    Details

I CAN export a 32bit package in both Single EXE and NON EXE formats. Trying to export a 64bit package in both EXE and NON EXE both fail with the descriptive error. Enabling LOG.LEVEL.FINEST shows nothing in the scm log 0 and 1. OR at least nothing I can spot off hand, database connection entrys show success across the board so its 0% linked to a "Problem" with connectino to the DB.

Any ideas?? Why would 32bit package work flawlessly in both formats, but the 64bit package fail miserably??

What do I need to search for in the SCM logs?

Run upgrade.bat once from location C:\Program Files\Symantec\ Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Bin\upgrade.bat

Ran that but the same results..

Does the possibility of a corrupt table or linked table, etc in the database that correlates with the 64bit package is the culprit?

I dont understand why I am able to export a 32bit package, but just the 64bit side fails..

Any other way to get verbose logging, FINEST gets me nothing I can use, at least from my POV

Have you tried re-importing the 64bit package into the SEPM manually then try to export?

In the Admin -> Install Packages -> Client Install Packages section of the SEPM click add client install pacakage. You can give it any name but for the source folder browse to your RU7 DVD -> SEPM -> Packages -> SAV64.info

After this package is loaded into the SEPM try exporting it.

Should I try and go into C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\ClientPackages

Delete the GUID value-PAckage for the 64bit Package, and RE-import the package as you described above??

If you wish to reimport the 64 bit package, then delet it by Right clicking on the 64 bit package under-Admin-install packages in SEPM and select delete. Then try to reimport.
