  • 1.  Upgrading 12.1.2 to 12.1.4

    Posted Mar 26, 2014 03:44 PM

Has there been any reports of connectivity/network failure during or after the upgrade? Trying to investigate an issue. There was a SEP upgrade from 12.1.2 to 12.1.4 and a Windows Updates push occuring at the same time. Trying to determine if it was SEP causing the issue. Deployment message currently says "Client has successfully downloaded and verified the upgrade package, type SymDelta version 12.1.4013.4013 filesize 14655509" and therefore the package was not installed nor pending a restart.

No such report, the only one I could find is

SEPM >> Reports >> Quick Report >> Select report Type as "Computer Status" >> Select a report as "Deployment Report

I'm sorry that I offer almost no help with this situation, but I just wanted to let you know that we deployed this SEP 12.1.4013 to over a thousand endpoints running anything from 12.1.2-12.1.3, and about 5% of the installs went horribly wrong. It completely broke the NIC driver requiring Clean Wipe to be run.

So yes, there definitely can be issues but I've had a hard time narrowing down the cause. I'm starting to wonder if it did have to do with a pending restart from Windows update.

Out of curiosity, how did you deploy the upgrade? SEPM? GPO? SCCM or other?

We actually used IBM Endpoint Manager to deploy it. But in this case we only used it to drop the file on the system and run a batch script. I exported a single exe from the console, ran a batch script to do the install, and ran SylinkDrop. The installer package that was deployed was set to clear all previous setting, install silentlym and not reboot. The reboot was done after the installation completed by IEM.
