  • 1.  Upgrading to 9.0.1, Error 15: File not found

    Posted May 20, 2010 11:48 AM

    Hello,

I went to update from 9.0.0 to 9.0.1, and got the following error:

    Booting 'Red Hat Linux (2.6.28-10_smsprod)'
    root (hd0,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
    kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.28-10_smsprod ro root=/dev/sda2 ramdisk_size=32768 console=ttyS0,9600 console=tty1 panic=5
    Error 15: File not found
    Press any key to continue...

If I press a key, I get the GRUB version 0.93 loading screen, with one option "Red Hat Linux (2.6.28-10_smsprod)

Pressing enter there just takes me back to the previous screen.

Any thoughts? I rebuilt twice and got the same error. This is using vmware esx4.

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Jon,

Have you confirmed that your virtual machine is setup per the instructions in the manual?  Also, how are you running the update, through the UI or the CLI?

I believe it is set up correctly. It worked under 9.0.0. After the reboot from the update, though, it stops. The VM is pretty basic: 1 drive (120 GB), 2 GB RAM. Is there a specific part of the manual (and which manual) you are referring to? I have tried the update through the web as I first go to configure the box, and also through the CLI. Both have the same issue (I rebuilt the virtual machine 4 times now, and it happens each time).

Was there any resolution to this matter? I have two boxes doing the exact same thing when upgrading to 9.0.1. With the exact same message after the reboot of the box. ANy help would be appreciated.
