This issue has been solved. See solution.

I'm currently running a licensed version of 11d of BackupExec on a Windows 2003 server.   I plan to upgrade to BackupExec 12.5 using the trialware version and then license it within the 60day period in the near term.   After the upgrade, I also plan to start using Windows Remote Agent for backing up a mapped Windows Share.   I'll need to get a license for this new functionality since we don't have one today.

Is there any way I can preserve the current backup jobs I'm running on BE 11d, before upgrading to 12.5?  Any other suggestions would be very helpful too if anyone that has been through this has any?

Thanks,
/KPS

Hi KPS, I went through this a

Hi KPS,

I went through this a couple of months ago.
You need new agent license keys which is a given, but during the upgrade, you are able either trash your database, or keep it.
I chose to keep mine, meaning all my media set information, tape information, jobs etc. carried over as well. I never had to configure a thing. The upgrade also installs the drivers for your tape drive, but I would suggest downloading the latest drivers for 12.5, as well as the service pack.
Just don't let your 60-day trial expire...it causes issues, especially with Exchange backups.

Laters!
