  • 1.  Upgrading Endpoint 11.4 to 12.1 error "You are not Allowed to Downgrade from Enterprise Edition to the Small Business"

    We are a Small business one server running windows 2003 server we were running symantec endpoint ver 11.4.  The version started causing errors and was taking up over 6gig of space on the server, the only computer running symantec.  So we uninstalled the symantec version from the server then cleaned all the files and folders and the registry of all the left overs from the symantec endpoint uninstall about 5gig of files.  The uninstall was very badly written to leave that many files behind.  Then we tried to install the Symantec Small Business Edition 12.1 and we are getting the error saying "You are not Allowed to Downgrade from Enterprise Edition to the small Business Edtion of symantec Endpoint Protection Manager." I did not think we were downgrading anything and we uninstalled and cleaned up the system before trying to install the new software is there a key you hide that must now be removed or what?

    I would call support to request the Cleanwipe utility. This will remove any traces of the old install.

    The must still be some leftovers from 11 MR4 version you had left either on drive or in registry. Use the newest cleanwipe tool to cleanup the machine and the proceeed  with SMB installation.
