Upgrading Groups with Package option

Howdy,
Up to now, we have been pretty much a 32 bit environment. Since our last update of SEP, we have rolled out some 64 bit clients. SEP is managed with AD, as in, all systems are placed in a group based on AD memberships.
What will happen if I apply a 32 bit package (such as, updating from 11.06 to 11.07) to a group that contains some 64 bit clients? And vice-versa - what happens if I update a group with a 64 bit package and there are 32 bit clients in that group?
Thanks!!

The client will only download
The client will only download the appropriate 32bit or 64bit package when it is added to the group. You don't need to worry about the client downloading the inappropriate package.

So, to cover my bases, apply both packages to a group - the 32 and the 64 bit? This was the answer I was hoping for and what I thought would happen, I just could not manage to find it...
Yep, if you have both 32 and
Yep, if you have both 32 and 64bit you would want to apply both.

Your reply, prompt and efficient, is extremely appreciated. I do not doubt anything you say at all --- but..... can you direct me to a reference of this in writing? It will make my boss feel better...
Thanks again!!!

Hello,
You can apply the both the packages. If the client is 32-bit it will take 32-bit Package and if client is 64-bit it will take 64-bit package automatically.

Not doubting anyone
But I would like a reference. I spent all night reading the manual and I cannot find where it says to apply both packages to a group. I'd just like to see it in an official document.... Just as this thread says you can do it, I have found other threads that state not to do (although, this thread does have two Symantec employees that state that is the way to do it...).
This is what the manual states:
To upgrade clients by using AutoUpgrade
1 In the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console, click Admin.
2 Click Install Packages.
3 Under Tasks, click Upgrade Groups with Package.
4 In the Welcome to the Upgrade Groups Wizard panel, click Next.
5 In the Select Client Install Package panel, select the appropriate client installation package, and then click Next.
...
"Select the appropriateclient installation package" really does not mean, select both packages....
Its mentioned to select an
Its mentioned to select an appropriate package because its assumed that the 64 bit and the 32 bit clients would be part of two diiferent groups, but if you have both the clients under one group then you can assign both the packages to one group.
It wont be mentioned in a
It wont be mentioned in a document as you find it mentioned user the approprite package or Use the package that is installed on the client.
There is a 32 bit package and there is a 64 bit package. So it makes it obvious that 32 bit package will be for 32 bit clients and 64 bit for 64 bit clients. So there is no need specifying the obvious.
I guess if you convey your managers that there are 2 different package for 32 and 64 bit clients they should understand.
