I administer a small office, but we are a division of a very large corporation.  We are currently running Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 and got the licensing information for Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.  I'm trying to find documentation on how best to perform this upgrade, but am not having very much luck. Has anyone out there done this?  Where are the documents for this?  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Thanks, I'll check it out.  It looks like it shouldn't be too bad of an upgrade.  Anyone out there done this and have any advice for me?  Any hiccups that I should expect?

Hi, Before upgrade take a

Hi,

Before upgrade take a backup with the help of disaster recovery.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102333

Follow the instruction as per Symantec notification mail.

SEP 11.x is paper license product and SEP 12.1 is the license product.

If you are part of Glabal division, are you using any replication, GUP, LUA  ? if yes then you will have to create a plan of action.

If your network is completely different from AV management point of view then you can go ahead & do an upgrade.

SEP Upgrade overview

SEPM upgrade is a two way process, performed by

 •  SEP 12.1 installation wizard

 •  Management server upgrade wizard

First server upgrades the database,Other server update server settings only if there are multiple SEPM's

Upgrade process is very simple, just few clicks & you are good to go with new SEP 12.1

Thanks and Regards,

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the replies.  We're a pretty small office.  We only have the one AV server serving to about 50 clients.  No replication involved or multiple sites even.

The DIsaster Recovery is a good idea

I tried and upgrade of 11 to 12.1 on the wekend and the database schema failed to upgrade something about a "collation conflict", so i'm trying to find out how to do the upgrade successfully. We're using an SQL database rather than embedded.
