Upgrading SEP Lcinet from SBE 12.0 to 12.1 RU1 MP1
Hi
We are upgrading SEP SBE 12.0 to SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1. According to Upgrade path, SEP is upgraded:
SEP SBE 12.0 -> SEP 12.1 RU1-> SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1
We successfully upgraded to version SEP 12.1 RU1 on server side with an automatic client upgrade disabled on all groups. Now the questions arise about client side:
1. Do we have to upgrade ALL clients to SEP 12.1 RU1 first , and then upgrade both server side and clients to SEP12.1 RU1 MP1? Or canwe skip upgrading clients to version SEP 12.1 RU1 , first, upgrade server side to SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1 , and upgrade clients straight to version SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1 ?
No automatic reboots are allowed clients, and for this reason upgradig to intermediate version(SEP12 RU1) is not desired since it can take unknown amount of time until all clients are upgraded to 12.1 RU1. That would mean that upgrading to SEP12 RU1 MP1 version cannot proceed.
2. Another question, How many times are reboots going to happen:
a) In case if we upgrade using the upgrade path both a server and clients in sequesnce SEP SBE 12.0-> SEP 12.1 RU1-> SEP RU1 MP1
b) If we upgrade Server side to SEP SBE 12.0 -> SEP 12.1 RU1-> SEP12.1 RU1 MP1 first , and then clients straight from SBE 12.0 to SEP12.1 RU1 MP1 ( if it is allowed)
Desirable way is not to upgrade clients to an intermediate version SEP 12.1 RU1 and proceed to SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1.
What is your opinion dear experts? Anybody had such an experiance before?
Thank you

since this is Side by side install you can directly upgrade to ru1 mp1.

Thanks Pete
Thus only a server side sequantial upgrade is important ,and client can be upgrade straigth to the final version.
It is not possible to avoid client restart even if we do sequantial side by side upgrade of the client as well. Correct?

for client restart, as you might have seen different version (sep 12.x) folders , for the latest one to be effective and running a restart is necessary. you can select the package whethere you want to force restart or schedule. ofcourse this restart is only applicable if the client is running sep 12.x on machine.
Cheers!

Ok. We still can stay with previous 12.0 version of the client and upgrade it later.
