Upgrading SEP management console to latest version on new hardware

Hi,

I would like to upgrade our current SEP management console (12.1.x) to the latest version.  I would also like to move the SEP management console to new hardware.

Is it OK to install the latest version of the SEP management console on the new hardware (using existing license) essentially creating a side-by-side deployment and then use a customized package deployment scenario created from the upgraded SEP installation to gradually deploy the upgraded client software to the client machines?  After all the client machines are upgraded and pointing to the new SEP installation, the older SEP management console and server hardware will be decommissioned.

Is this an approved method?

Thanks.

I have approached the task by using the "Disaster Recovery" method for moving the SEPM console to the new hardware and using the "SEP Communication Updater" option to facilitate the migration of the clients to begin communicating with the new server.

As part of the process, I downloaded the latest release of the SEPM software for the installation to the new hardware.  My old server shows version 12.1.671.4971.  The new server shows 12.1.4104.4130.

Is SEPM version 12.1.4104.4130 the latest version?  If so, is there also a newer client version that can be downloaded and added to the console for the purpose of creating new client installation packages?

Thanks again for your help and guidance.
