Hi all,
I'm looking at upgrading SEP to MR 4. If i upgrade the server side first, will all the clients need upgrading at the same time? We have around 100 clients and we'd look at doing a phased upgrade of them all.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Moving upgrading SEP to MR4
Hi,
Please refer to this link below which guides you through the upgrade process. Once you upgrade your server then from the SEPM manager conssole you can upgrade the clients with the new MR4 package.

You can install the server
You can install the server side first, then gradually move forward with your phased approach to upgrade the remaining clients. you dont have to upgrade all the clients immediately upon upgrading the server.
You'll be glad you did!
Not so say that it may not be a little painful getting there, depending on the current state of your desktops, your server, and the version of SEP they are on now. We had a few difficult upgrades along the way, but now that eveything is on the latest public release, life is much better here (not perfect, but definitely better).
Once we learned how to manage with policies and group assignments, we used the method of assigning the new install package to each group (one at a time), using the "Install Packages" tab in the Clients/group lists. From MR3 forward, a lot of that stuff actually works! ;0)
Good luck.

So if i just upgraded the server and not the clients, all the clients would still get the latest virus signatures and policy updates?
