Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition

  • 1.  Upgrading SEP SBE 12.1.3 (RU3) to 12.1.4 (RU4) problem

    Currently running SEP Small Business Edition 12.1.3 (RU3) on Server 2008.

     

    Downloaded SEP SBE 12.1.4 (RU4) from file connect (using the serial number) and on running the setup it states;

     

    "You are not allowed to downgrade from Enterprise Edition to the Small Business Edition of Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager"

     

    Is this a bug in RU4?

    As per error your old version is Enterprise Edition ?

    Can you share your old SEPM extract version details?

    This is taken from the Symantec Help tool for the currently installed version

     

    It is Small Business RU3

     

     

    Version Registry

    I have found the issue. Looking at the Symentec help tool it lists the manager as Enterprise but I am running Small Business, see the screen shot of the login page for protectio manager

     

    Looks to be a fault in RU3, can this line be edited in registry?

    can you try this registry fix?

    SEPM 12.1 RU1 Small Business Edition won't upgrade to 12.1.1 MP1 saying you are not allowed to downgrade from Enterprise Edition

    Hello,

    Try the below workaround - 

    1. Disable Tamper Protection for the Symantec Endpoint Protection client on the management server.
    2. Change the ProductType string value from "sepe" to "sepsb", without quotes, in the following key:

    32-bit
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SEPM

    64-bit
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\SEPM

    1. Re-enable tamper protection.
    2. Re-run the setup.exe for 12.1.4

    Reference:

    To resolve the issue I removed the manager fully and re-installed the product from scratch. Imposrting the policies
