Upgrading SF4.0Mp2 to Sf5.0MP3 with addition of 3rd node

Hi,
i'm planning to upgrade Sf4.0MP2 to SF5.0MP3 with addition of one more node to existing 2 node vcs cluster

can some one comment what should be fallback plan for this activity of upgrade.

 If the rootdisk is mirorred, split the mirror disk and unencapsulate it for standby.
If need to rollback, use the mirror disk.

If the upgrade is successful, add the mirror disk back and sync the data.

If you are after specific commands to split the mirror and unencapsulate the mirror disk,
check the support site, you will find many technotes.

but one more query ,i'm not sure whether customer has mirror disk let say they don't have mirror disk what other option I can follow for fall back, shall i go for re-installtion of SF4.0MP2, if upgrade fail?

could you please suggest something in this senerio?

Hello Prithvi,

Yes, you will have no choice but to reinstall your packages. Ofcourse recommended would be to add a mirror first (veritas or Solstice) & proceed with upgrade after a split of mirror thus always keeping a good copy or working copy.

Other option would be (if mirror is not there), take a full backup on tape using good backup utility & keep it ready for restore...
