Upgrading SQL server from 2008 RTM to SQL server 2008 R2SP2

Created: 04 Oct 2013 | 3 comments

Hi,

My DBA team is going to upgrade the SQL server from  2008 RTM to SQL server 2008 R2SP2. what do i need to do in addition to stopping all EV services on the EV server ? Will it be sufficient to stop all EV services before the SQL upgrade & start the services after the upgrade is completed?

Thanks,

Hi,

Since it would be a SQL server upgrade in the same server (i.e. no database migration or move involved), stopping the EV services should be OK. Rememebr to backup all the Enterprise Vault databases prior to the upgrade. Make sure the collation doesn't change. Also, if you have SQL Reporting services and Enterprise Vault reporting installed, you need to take a look at this technote:

I hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your response. We started getting this message " the custom form could not be opened. outlook will user an outlook form instead. contact your administrator.." after the SQL upgrade. everything else is working fine like vault cache, archive explorer, search vaults etc.

We received this error in the past but went away when i restsrated all Ev services but this time it is not working by restarting the services. Any suggestions ?

Thanks,

Hi,

I am not sure if this new error is related to the SQL upgrade. Where are you getting this error message: Enterprise Vault server or a client? Take a look at this post:

I hope this helps.
