This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hi,
I am trying to setup a test lab for CMS 7.1. It is getting stuck at database configuration and returns an error:
Could not connect to server SMP\MSSQLSERVER or login failed.
MSSQLSERVER is instance that is created by default.
Environment:
Windows Server 2008 R2 (Evaluation)
SQL Server 2008 R2 (Evaluation) is on box in a different partition.
I am able to ping SMP / SQL from DC.
Both are physical machines.
This is very URGENT. Any help would be great.
AWAITING EARLIEST RESPONSE.
Thanks

Hi Ashish,
Thanks for the reply.
I have gone through this post however, hasnt helped.
Please advise.
Can you tell us the things on that other thread you've checked and are OK?
Are you using SQL or Windows authentication for SQL?
Can you connect to SQL using those credentials from SQL Server Management Studio?
Are there any errors in the SQL Error log?
What is the error in the Altiris log?

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the reply.
It has fixed. Later I identified that the account itself doesnt have appropriate permissions. I know it is a small thing which I missed it. Not sure how?
Thanks
