Use Microsoft Remote Assistance instead of pcAnywhere in ServiceDesk

Created: 03 Jul 2012 | 1 comment

We are attempting to use Microsoft Remote Assistance instead of pcAnywhere to connect to clients from ServiceDesk .  We also have the Altiris agent installed on all of our client machines.  Is there a way to customize which remote access method  you offer the client through ServiceDesk?  I have a batch file that brings up the Remote Assistance dialog, but I need to figure out how to customize ServiceDesk to allow it.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That is a great idea! Why do you use a batch file though? I currently use a shortcut on my desktop to offer remote assistance. The target is "msra.exe /offerRA". You have to manually enter the computer name and then connect. However, I know that you can add the computer name as an argument to "msra.exe" like so "msra.exe /offerRA computername". So you've made me think, I wonder is there a way to edit one of the "Process Views" to add a web part that contains such a link? Any ideas? Great idea of yours RIP_Leroi!
