We have over half a dozan externally hosted websites that we need to have monitored.

I see how to check for load time and status of sites we have as servers but how do I test for these outside sites.

And for additional trouble one site has to go through an external proxy to the external site.

Can i do these with monitoring solution or do i just need to make a workflow to test these?

You can use proxy settings for SMA where RMS will be running and perform an agentless monitoring of external Sites, but I'm afraid that you will not be able to perform "Network Discovery" to discover all required external sites (or populate them via Data connector or AD Import).

Or you can try to perform an agent-based monitoring of external Sites.

You need to monitor only availability of these Sites or more than this metric?

all i need to test does the the website load.  these are not my websites, but websites the city need to do buisness.  So if they go down the yelling to get them up need to start as soon as possible.

one of them i need to test by two routes one strait to it and one that passes through a proxy site on its way the same site.   the proxy site is not part of my network and both are hosted by other people.  

If you have a straight route to this web site from your NS Server network, then you can discover this web site as resource via "network discovery" and then perform an agentless HTTP(s)/ICMP availability/load monitoring of this web site.

• But for 2nd way to monitor, using a proxy connection to this web site, this seems like impossible, because RMS is required to have a connection with NS Server to send all monitored data and a proxy connection to have an access to this web site to monitor it.
