I'm out of ideas...

One user is being presented with a login box when they're trying to open any archived items in their mailbox. Everyone else in the company is fine, or haven't rung me yet.

We're using EV 2007 SP2 with Exchange 2003 & Outlook 2007

The event viewer on the users PC is displaying the following error:

Type: Error
Source: Enterprise Vault
Category: None
Event ID: 8390

The description for the Event ID (8390) in Source (Enterprise Vault) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: Access is denied.

I understand is says access is denied but all the permissions look fine and all the EV server details are entered into the trusted Intranet zones?

I search everywhere high and low but without success. Any help much appreciated...

Check the IE settings to ensure the proxy settings are correct, and the EV servers have been added to the local intranet zone (if needed).

After you check the local intranet zones verify the user account the user is logged in to the workstation with.

They may be telling you they are logged in with the proper account and they are now.

If you are pushing the EV server to the local intranet zones then verify the user does Sync from EV correctly.

What happens when you try to manually archive ("Store in vault" button) an item? Do you see a vault available to store items in?
