I have some software that we deploy to computers but often we want to provide a way to send a link to users so that they can install the software if they want it, e.g. optional software. It's all packaged up in the console and deploys fine. The users dont have admin rights so can't install it manually. Is there a way to provide this capability so that we can say to users 'if you want this software, click here' and it installs it via the elevated rights the agent has?

You want to use the Software Portal.

Or you could deploy it using a Managed Software Delivery Policy with the run date far in the future but with "Allow user to turn on policy..." set. Then they could open the Symantec Management Agent and run it from there.

Thanks, is software portal installed by default? I can't find any links to it.

I don't think it is installed by default. You need to go to Settings > All Settings > Agent/Plug-ins > Software > Software Management > Software Portal Plug-in Policy.

I think this policy is safe to clone so you can have different Policies for different Targets.
