  • 1.  User Migration - Mapped Network Drives (again)

Profile migrations are not capturing mapped network drives for users. We have users map their own network drives instead of login scripts, so when we reimage a machine, users complain about missing network drive mappings.

I first asked this question a long time ago and got caught up with other things so I wasn't able to work on a resolution. I'm back to the same issue now as here:

In the migration template, I have Windows Explorer selected, and it transferes network printer connections, just not mapped network drives. Any ideas?

The drive mappings appear to be stored under HKCU/Network.  Check this out on one of your systems, and then see if recording and restoring these settings is sufficient.

Just bear in mind that if these drive mappings require users to attach with a different set of credentials to their normal login credentials, they are going to have to re-enter them on the new system as the storage of passwords is in an area of the registry where access is restricted to the system account only.
