Just wondering will Ghost Solution Suite get any application profile updates to allow simpler migration of settings from one computer to another?

For instance Firefox 1.5X and 2.0X are in the list but not 3.X or Adobe Reader 7 is in the list but adobe reader 9 is out.

There is a lot of these "standard" applications that have not been updated on the "Supported Application" list. Also is there anyway we can customize applications for adding on to this list?

Thanks

Bernard

I believe GSS 2.5 is shipped

I believe GSS 2.5 is shipped with the tool that allows application template creation - Migration Application wizard. For most of the applications out there it could be just the matter of detecting correct version number and creating new template from an existing one. However certain applications are much more painful than others - MS outlook is the best example. Not only every version stores settings differently, same version running on different OSes stores settings differently.

Every application template is just an XML file and so is its conversion from one version to the next - XSLT file. If you are familiar with XML you can even try doing this by hand but this could be painful. I'd suggest using wizard.

User Migration Supported applications

Currently GSS 2.5.1 is not updated with newer versions of supported applications. But although you can modify GSS to capture new applications with the help of Symantec user migration content IDE.

Please see http://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/symantec-user-migration-content-ide

Future update

Gavardhan, Thanks for the link. I will take a look at it.

Does anyone know if there will be a future update that will add more newer programs to the supported application list?
