  • 1.  Using CCS 9.01 and checking Red Hat Linux 5.5 Enterprise x86_64

    Posted Jul 30, 2011 10:25 AM

I am trying to run the Security Essentials for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0 Standard against a Red Hat Linux 5.5  Enterprise Linux Server x86_64.  The results are coming back checks unknown.  I am using CCS 9.01 and Bindview agentless configuration.  What PCU supports this version of Red Hat?  On the CCS console, under the asset information error tab, I am receiving the following error :  "Failed to retrieve data from SQL".  When trying to run a Bindview query, under the query tab, the version goes to Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5.4.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    1. Try running other default standars, say the CIS standard agains that asset. See if you get results. If you get partial results, then there is no issue in the configuration and I would take the step to upgrade PCU .

    2. Hope you know the improvements Symantec has made for PCU.  Starting July 2011 Symnatec will provide single release for content updates across all current versions of CCS.

    3. For your current environment, you will need CCS R&A 9.0.1 PCU 2011-3” package  installed on the 9.0.1 R&A server and  “CCS DC 10.5.1 PCU 2011-3” package on the DC.

Do share your findings and next steps with the community.

Are you planning to upgrade to 10.5 SP1 ?

Thank you so much for your help.  In addition to posting this question, I had contacted Symantec Tech Support.  Quite to my dismay, they provided me the incorrect information.  I appreciate your time and effort!
