Using PGP Desktop 10.2 to encrypt external drive

Created: 19 Sep 2012 | 1 comment

Can this external drive be used with a laptop to travel?  Do I need to install PGP on the laptop in order to access the drive?  Initially I had an online chat with Symantec who advised that I needed to create a paired key.  Where can I find out how to do this?

You can attach an external disk to your laptop and then enrypt it from the PGP Desktop installation on the laptop.  There is no need to do anything special with the external disk.  You should be able to encrypt it to either a passphrase or your public key.  If you encrypt it to your public key, you will need to have your private key on any computer you want to access the disk's data from.
