  • 1.  Using SIDGEN to generate new SID

    Posted Nov 02, 2008 11:21 PM
Is SIDgen a utility that Altiris supports? If yes what is the latest version that is available? On trying to use "SIDgen v1.2.22 - Windows NT SID Utility", the process fails when examining the file system security and one of the error is as shown below: Error 0 replacing security information for 'C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1639733992-869153822-1017268310-500\Dc7.log' Any guidance would be highly appreciated.

I don't believe sidgen is supported anymore. You should use sysprep.

    Rafero,

Sidgen.exe is officially only supported on XPe Thin Clients now. If your OS is not XPe or other Thin Client OSes, use Sysprep for a supported, better experience, for SID replacement.

You can also use newsid from technet - formerly www.sysinternals.com
