Do you mean Property (rather than variable) ?  Any property can be used in an embedded VBScript using the following method:

var = session.property("PROPERTYNAME")

You can also set a property from a VBScript variable thus:

session.property("PROPERTYNAME") = var

Although I have used the public property naming convention (all capitals), it does also work with other properties.

Some things to bear in mind:

1. If a property is set in the UI sequence, it will only survive into the Execute sequence if it is a PUBLIC property.

2. Make sure you sequence your embedded custom action at a point where the property you are using has a valid value.

3. Property values are only available in the immediate sequence. If you need to run the CA in the deferred sequence, you need to use the CustomActionData property.
