Hi,

I am getting the following error for a number of servers which are nested in a policy.

V-79-57344-34070 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "Shadow?Copy?Components". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider error (0xE0008516): Resources specified for snapshot do not have any valid data on them. Check if files were deleted or renamed.

The thing is though the Policy doesnt have AOFO enabled yet I am still getting this error!? This error by the way appeared from nowhere.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ultan

   Pay no attention to  the

Pay no attention to  the AOFO part; the significant part of that error message is the last part.

The AOFO always shows up when I get a Shadow Copy error of any kind, and I'm not using AOFO either.

  EXAMPLE:
 Backup- \\Q: New Volume
V-79-57344-34110 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\TRGAZITSQL02 Shadow?Copy?Components". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider reports "Out of memory".

The server ran out of memory - has nothing to do with AOFO.

Hello, Are you backing up

Hello,

Are you backing up Exchange ?

Apply the VSS rollup patch (Reboot required) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940349 and try backing up Shadow Copy Components as a test job.

Its a best practice to have a "Support Contract" with Symantec...

Exchange is on one of the

Exchange is on one of the servers but there are 3 servers that do not have exchange yet the error appears on all 3.

What is the last part of the error telling me?
