V12 rolling upgrade and older agents

Replacing my backup server and getting V12.  The process plan will be upgrading my current 9.1 with the trial of V10d (or is it V10?), upgrading that to V12, then backing up the BE database and taking the old server offline for wiping and disposal.  Finally, I'll bring the new server online, install V12 and import the backed up database.

Two questions:
1)  Is the process I've laid out above correct?

2)  Due to uptime requirements, I won't be able to reboot some of our servers to uninstall the 9.1 agents, then install the V12 agents until next weekend.  Will V12 be able to work with the 9.1 agents temporarily and back up those servers for a week until I get my downtime window?

Thanks.

1)  Looks like it should work

2)  A v12 media server is certified for  v10d and v11d Remote Agents, but not  v10.0 or earlier.  See the v12 SCL
