v2icreate LOG file?

Created: 19 Sep 2012 | 7 comments

Hello,

I call v2icreate.exe from a command line and have never been able to generate a log file. Here is my command line:

x:\windows\shell\v2i\v2icreate.exe -DF M:\backupdir\ -DFN backupimagename.v2i -RCL -NUI -RPS 20480 -RPC standard -SVD c: -IBS -VRP -LOG x:\besrlog.txt

Any thoughts as to what I may be doing wrong? Just tested this with v11.0.0.46130, same story.

Also, if the network drops for some reason, is there any way I can somehow look for or capture the drop/failed backup? Otherwise, there is never any indication that the network has dropped and my process hangs.

Again, this is all via commandline, via the gui is a different story.

Thanks,

-Mike

As a side note...if I add in a -DBG x:\besrdebug

The debug file gets created no problem...so I know the media is writable.

No thoughts?

Am I the only person running v2icreate from the command line?

Symantec?

The -LOG switch failing to create a log file, though the v2icreate completes, is a known issue currently being investgated by product development. Command line use of the V2icreate is not a feature commonly used by our customers. I have requested a status update regarding their investigation.I will update this thread as soon as I learn more regarding this matter.

Thanks for your help Markus!

Thanks Dave, I look forward to your update.

P.S. We use the command line interface of v2icreate within our ZTI deployments, for the most part it works great!
