Valid VMDK versions for Ghostcast 11.5
Updated: 22 May 2010 | 3 comments
Hi
I would like to use existing VMDK files created with VMware server 2.0. When I try to use those VMDKs I get an error about it not being a valid image. The help file doesn't even contain "vmware" or VMDK.
Does anyone know what type of VMDKs I can use?

Hi,
The only vmdk files that Ghost doesn't support are ESX server files. I believe VMware Server 2.0 should be fine - though it appears that there is a problem in this case.
Could you please post the ghosterr.txt generated by ghost?
Thanks, Robert.

I have tried Server 2.0 Workstation 5 and 6 and none of the image files will work.
Thanks. What version of
Thanks. What version of ghost32 are you running - you can find out with the following command line: "ghost32 -ver"?
When ghost32 is operating on vmdk files it needs exclusive access to them, so it could be worth checking that the vmdk file(s) are not part of a VM currently running in VMware and are not mapped as a drive letter.
