VCB or Vstorage ? ESX/Vsphere Compatibility

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi all,

Just a quick questions I hope you can help confirm.

  • Netbackup Master Server on 7.0.1
  • Windows Backup host on 7.0.1
  • An ESX server on ESX 3.5 Update 1 only.
  • Vcenter 4.1 Update 2

Is this using Vstorage or VCB ? (If VCB will it still work after upgrading master and backup host to 7.5 ?)

(My interpretation of the docs is that its vstorage as its sits behind a Vcenter serevre later than 2.5 update, 2.  However I'm not 100% confident as it refers to restoring rather than backing up.)

Regards

Nick

It looks still possible under 7.5 as instead of using Vmware as the type in the policy still keep to Flashbackup-Windows and can choose VCB options.

vstorage not introduced until esx3.5 update 2

This slide from symantec even cements that statement

Tip: Get overview/document your NBU environment. Run 'nbsu' and review the output.
